Galashiels Squash and Racketball Club is run by an enthusiastic and dynamic committee to represent the interest of all members. The committee holds regular meetings to which ordinary members are welcome. We always appreciate new ideas, offers of help and additional volunteers to join the committee on an ad hoc basis. The rules underlying the way that the Galashiels Squash and Racketball Club is operated are detailed in the club constitution, which is available to all members on request – email the secretary for more information.
Club Chairman: John Barrow
John is a new arrival to the Borders but has played squash on and off for too many years to mention. Although only joining the club in 2015, John regularly joins Monday Club night club nights and plays in the competitions and leagues and is now bringing his enthusiasm and organisational skills to the role of chair of the club.
Club Secretary: Rachel McAleese
Rachel has just joined the committee as secretary and is a beginner that got the squash bug big time. Rachel started playing only in 2014 and she has been described since in the squash news as ” the ever present Rachel”. A regular of Mondays club nights and of Thursday’s ladies squash night, Rachel is also a keen baker. Her “squash cakes” were praised far and wide across the Edinburgh league squash clubs!
Club Treasurer: Derek Sharratt
Amongst many other things, “Del Boy” runs the financial side of the club and is a regular at Monday Club nights. Del Is just as keen at playing Racketball as he is at Squash. A left-handed player, Del’s “never-say-die” attitude on the court is legendary. Del Boy is also administrator of the Club Facebook page where you can see live pictures/results.
Club membership Secretary: Luis Molero
Luis is our Spanish membership secretary, hence deals with new members, entry cards and renewals. Luis is a regular on Monday nights, a keen beginner with a like for all sports. His biggest foe is Del Boy; both of them are usually engaged in swashbuckling matches on Monday nights and ‘some’ shouting can often be heard. Luis also likes to pretend that he is undefeated at table tennis and he is always looking for a worthy rival!
Club Webmaster and Competitions: Andrew Gill
A club member since 2010, Andy is a regular on club nights and is a novice web designer. Any ‘constructive’ comments on this site are welcomed. Andy has played in league teams in various parts of the country and can offer basic squash training.
Other Committee Members:

A regular on Monday club nights and takes part in the squash league, tournaments and has represented the club in inter club matches. Runner up in the handicap tournament in 2014
