Galashiels Squash and Racketball Club is run by an enthusiastic and dynamic committee to represent the interest of all members. The committee holds regular meetings to which ordinary members are welcome. We always appreciate new ideas, offers of help and additional volunteers to join the committee on an ad hoc basis. The rules underlying the way that the Galashiels Squash and Racketball Club is operated are detailed in the club constitution, which is available to all members on request – email the membership secretary for more information.
Brian has played squash on and off for too many years to mention. Although only joining the club in 2017, Brian regularly joins Monday Club night club nights and plays in the competitions and leagues and is now bringing his enthusiasm and organisational skills to the role of chair of the club.
Iain has recently teamed up with Brian as Co-Chairman. Iain was a beginner that got the squash bug big time. A regular of Mondays club nights Iain also gets regular coaching from Scottish Squash Coach Rory Stewart and has Represented Border Reivers in the East Leagues.
Iain Laing is a Double Club Champion who was out of the game for 12 years, but he missed his squash too much and has returned to the Club and now brings his know how to the running of the club. Iain Laing is a qualified coach and can offer basic coaching throughout the club.
Club Captain and Membership Secretary:
Amongst many other things, “Del Boy” runs the membership side of the club and is a regular at Monday Club nights. Del Is also the Club Captain and a Regular in the East League Team. Del was awarded the prestigious East of Scotland “Clubperson of the year” accolade in 2019 for his efforts at the Club, Del also is a qualified coach and runs Ad-Hoc junior nights at the club. Del is also administrator of the Club Facebook page where you can see live pictures/results.
A club member since 2010 and honourary member since 2017; Andy was a regular on club nights and a 3-time Club Champion! Andy is also a novice web designer. Any ‘constructive’ comments on this site are welcomed. Andy has played in league teams in various parts of the country.
Darren Quinn runs the financial side of the club and has been a member of the club since his School days; he now brings his youthful exuberance to the committee. Darren takes up regular Coaching from Rory Stewart and is a Squad Player for The Border Reivers.
Other Committee Members:
Ruaridh joined the club in 2013 after an absence from squash for 14 years, showing that you can get back into it at any time. A regular on Monday club nights and takes part in the squash leagues, coaching, tournaments and has represented the club in East League matches. Runner up in the handicap tournament in 2014 and the Memorial Shield Tournament 2019.
John, although having played squash for many years, only joined the Club in 2015. John had a four year stint as Club Chairman where he overseen several Upgrades to the club. John now brings his wisdom to the Club as a committee Member. John is also a regular face at the Club Nights
